In the above example, the perception of ‘bright’ is varied with ‘clear’ or ‘shrill’. When used on its own in the multiple choice question, the attribute ‘bright’ did not attract a differential.

Comments which used ‘bright’ to describe the piano sounds brought the differential down, especially in concert No. 5 where a 100% differential occurred describing the Steinway as ‘bright’.
