A Sydney Jazz Life Since 1979
Kevin Hunt is a jazz pianist-composer who has performed regularly in the Sydney jazz scene since 1979, and currently performs regularly with vocalist Emma Pask.
As well as performing, Kevin teaches jazz studies at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music and completed his PhD, Perceptions of the Stuart & Sons piano: realising a creative, active vision. His research analyses the unique sound of the Australian-made Stuart & Sons piano.
As an outcome, Kevin collaborates musically with local and regional Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander musicians, instigating the annual OUR MUSIC Indigenous music program at the Conservatorium.
Raised in Music, Devoted to Jazz
Kevin's school days were full of music — brass bands, rock bands, choirs and church. His home life was musical too: classical piano from his father Ellis, violin from his sister Marianne, and the blues-rock of his older brothers Bernard & John.
